DIY Fun Frames!

Today I had a craft date with my friend Raychel. I love to craft…in fact I think I may have a slight obsession with all things crafty. I often buy things that I just KNOW will be perfect for a craft then they sit in a bag or box downstairs just waiting to be used. I even went through my horde of supplies this summer to try to clear some out. SO HARD! Anyway, I got a little side tracked there…onto what we crafted today!

I’m very grateful to be part of the steering team for a new MOPS group here in the Mon Valley. (If you’ve never been to MOPS it stands for Mothers of Pre Schoolers. It’s a great ministry to be a part of!) My ‘job’ on the steering team is hospitality and publicity. The hospitality part includes making sure that the moms come in to a beautiful decorated and inviting atmosphere by coordinating table clothes, centerpieces, etc. I’m also blessed to be joined on the steering team by some very creative women. Raychel is one of these. She not only came up with some great ideas for group names and ways to display them but who also came over to craft them with me.

The theme for the MOPS year is “Beautiful Mess”. We wanted to take that and find a way to incorporate it in our d├ęcor. Raychel and I both have been hunting through the local thrift shops for different round table cloths, puzzles, buttons, glass containers that could be used for candles, picture frames and anything else that would work for our design. I’m SO thrilled with what we ended up with and I cannot wait to see it all put together at our first meeting on Tuesday! Are you curious what we made today with all these things? Take a look…

Setting things out…before the big mess!
Thrifted frame and buttons.

Thrifted frame and ribbon scraps from my stash.

Thrifted frame and cut up cds from Raychel’s stash.

Thrifted frame and noodles from Raychel’s pantry.

Thrifted frame and candy from the Halloween stash!
(Also, sneak peak at one of our group names! Cute, right?!)
I hope this inspires you to try some fun frames of your own! You can really use anything…small toys, coins, legos, crayons…the possibilities are endless!

(PS…I’ll post pictures later of what we did with the glasses!)

(I've also decided to participate once again in the NaBloPoMo for November...a challenge to grow yourself and your blog in the month of November. Why not join me on this journey?!)
