Creating Characters!

As you may remember Monkey desperately wanted a Digimon character for his birthday. More specifically the cat from Digimon. Unfortunately toys and stuffed animals for the show are no longer available…well, they ARE but you have to be willing to shell out a large sum of money on Ebay. So, I decided to try my hand at making him his own costume. Not quite a stuffed animal but let me tell you the kid LOVES it.

Of course after I finished Monkey’s costume Zim and Bubba were already putting in requests for their own. Zim decided that he wanted to be a purple minion from Despicable Me 2. Who doesn’t love minions?! (Just wish I had a few of my own that actually listened to me! lol)

And of course he walks around making the ‘evil minion’ sound.

These hats are great because they not only make cute, homemade Halloween costumes but they will also be warm for Winter so the boys can play their characters whenever they like! Now to just figure out what Bubba wants to be. :)
Does your kiddo have a character that they love and pretend to be? Would you like a custom hat made just for them? You can contact me via email at to order your very own custom character hat for only $20 plus shipping (with gloves $25 plus shipping). If you’re looking to have it by Halloween make sure to contact me soon! Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Monday is our catch up day…a day to recover from a busy weekend and prepare for a busy week but often Mondays can be just as crazy or challenging. This is what our Monday looks like through the Instagram lens.

I got up and put on my uniform for the day.

Thought about when I could tackle this and the other two loads in the basement waiting to be washed/dried.

Getting into third grade with Bub and finding it quite different and more difficult/time consuming than last year.

Working on writing with Zim. Yes, he had to write three full sentences when he’s only learned maybe four or five letters. This was a challenge to put it mildly.

Going up and down these about 50 times to help Bub with his school then back to help Zim with his. Can some one clone me?

Leaving the younger two to their own devices so I can edit photos, blog, do laundry, etc. Yup, it’s a mess, but that’s ok…it will clean up!

Today is definitely a challenging Monday. I post these photos not to complain but to let other mommas out there know that you are not alone! I like to think that some day I will be super mom and have it all together. A clean house, dinner cooking, laundry all done (and put away), the boys peacefully doing their schoolwork while I sit with them with all the patience in the world. But you know what, my life’s a little chaotic right now and that’s ok! This is where God has me right now and I’m going to trust that He will continue to give me all that I need to do exactly what He wants me to do. These photos are reminders of the blessings in my life. More than enough clothes for us all, the privilege of getting to not only stay home with my boys but school them here at home, a home that has more than enough room, and boys that have beautiful imaginations to play and create a whole world of fun around them. I am very thankful for our Mondays…chaos and all!

Momma’s Media Kit!

In order to reach a wider audience and in turn raise more awareness for Juvenile Arthritis I have been working on some of the ‘professional’ aspects of my blog. Blogging is fun, and can stay that way, but when you want to reach more people with a purpose sometimes you have to put more work into it. My project this past week was to create a media kit. This is something that I can easily send to other bloggers and companies to quickly show them stats on my blog as well as my mission. Here is what I came up with…

Next on my list of to-do list is increasing my twitter audience and getting more blog page views! Please feel free share my media kit and my page as often as you like. More exposure means more awareness for Juvenile Arthritis!

Simple and Quick Pumpkin Fix

Fall is my absolute favorite season! Part of it is the crisp, cool evenings, part of it’s the beautiful colors of the changing leaves, but I’ll be honest…it has a lot to do with pumpkins. Pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin roll…I think you get the idea. So today I gave in and made my first pumpkin yum of the season…super easy pumpkin spice cookies.

All you need is a box of spice cake and a can of pure pumpkin…yup, it’s THAT easy!

1(Are you drooling yet…I was!)

After you preheat your oven to 350 you’ll want to dump the cake mix into your mixing bowl of choice then dump the pumpkin in right after.

3(This picture doesn’t look quite as drool worthy…)

Next just mix and mix until it’s blended. If you’re like me and haven’t worked out in a while this will give you a nice little arm workout. There, you just burned the calories that you’ll intake when you eat all the cookies after they’ve cooled.

Use a spoon or a nifty Pampered Chef scoop (hello, I loooove my scoop!) and put the dough about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. (Again, I used my Pampered Chef stone…loooove!) (Side note here…you can also add mini chocolate chips to the mix to have an even more delicious cookie.)

Then just pop them into the oven for 10-12 minutes and enjoy the wonderful, pumpkiny aroma that wafts from your oven. Once they are done go ahead and let them cool on a rack. You will be tempted to eat one right away but let me warn you these little suckers pack some hidden steam so watch out! At least break it open and let it cool for a couple seconds before you pop it into your mouth.

And no, I don’t have any after pics unfortunately. Two reasons for this…one, many of them were immediately devoured by my three ravenous monsters beautiful boys and two, my camera battery gave out on me. Maybe it was just jealous that I too was eating scrumptious pumpkin spice cookies…guess we’ll never know. You could easily top these with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or use them to make gobs with some yummy cream cheese frosting slathered in between. If you weren’t drooling before, I bet you are now! Enjoy!

An Early Hockey Night in Pittsburgh!

Pittsburgh bleeds black and gold…it’s a sports town through and through. Everywhere you look you’ll see people sporting our team colors whether they are rooting for the Pirates, the Steelers or the Pens. Even though most Pittsburghers will root for all Pittsburgh teams, some have more of an allegiance to one sport above the others. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of hockey fans counting down to the Pens taking the ice at CONSOL this fall. Well, hockey fans, I have a great way for you to get a little fix before the season officially begins. The CCM/USA – All American Prospects Game!

allamericanprospects_300x250 (2)

At the All American Prospects game you’ll be able to watch 40 of the top American-born prospects show their skills and talents. These 40 players are all eligible for the 2014 National Hockey League Draft. Who knows, when you attend this game you just may see the next Sidney Crosby! How cool will it be to say some day, “Hey, I saw them before they were big at the CCM/USA – All American Prospects game!”

Not only is this a great family event but it’s also an affordable one! Take advantage of this opportunity to see a great hockey game and the beautiful new CONSOL Energy Center! There are plenty of tickets still available for purchase.
