Before Halloween was even upon us I noticed that the stores were already starting to cram all their Halloween items into fewer aisles and sneaking in the Christmas stuff. UGH! Why rush it? I love Christmas, I really do, even more now that I have kids, but when did it become a 2 month long event? If people were celebrating the true Christmas for two months I'd be happy and pleased but that's not the case. When the stores and TV are blaring blinking lights and Santa 24/7 on November 8 it makes it hard to keep your kids focused on the real meaning of the Christmas season. Not only that...what about Thanksgiving?! It's not just a day to eat good food and watch football all day but it's a day to remember where we came from and give thanks for everything we have. Oh, but wait, that won't make people money will it? *sigh*
On a happy, non ranting note, I have been very happy to see many "thankful" posts on Facebook from my friends. It's so good to see how blessed we all truly are!
With that I will share something I'm thankful for...I am truly thankful that there is a God in heaven who loved me enough from the very beginning of time that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to live the life of a mortal man and to die so that I might have true salvation. If it weren't for this one amazing thing there would be nothing else to be thankful for. This, to me, is the base of my life, this is the reason for everything, and for that I am eternally thankful.
